IMAM-ENGINEERS – UCAB’s Pedagogical Revolution
Graduation Ceremony
On October 24, 2026, the Grand National Theatre of Dakar hosted the graduation ceremony for Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba University (UCAB). The event celebrated the achievements of 537 graduates and marked a significant milestone for both the institution and higher education in Senegal. Families, academic officials, corporate partners, and a representative from the supervising ministry gathered to honor the accomplishments of the graduates.

The ceremony also served as the occasion for an exclusive premiere of the official documentary, “Imams-Engineers – The UCAB Pedagogical Revolution.” Produced by Madyana Studio, the film explores the university’s educational vision and the experiences of its students. Its screening provided a tangible look at the achievements being celebrated on stage.
UCAB and the “Imam-Engineer” Model: The Alliance of Faith and Knowledge
For a long time in Senegal, holding a baccalaureate in the Arabic language (the “LAR” track or an Arab-Islamic curriculum) served as a dead end for those seeking admission to major public technical schools and universities. Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba University (UCAB) was established to remove this barrier and build a solid bridge between Arab-Islamic culture and the requirements of modern science.
Through a tailored preparatory year offered prior to the LMD (Bachelor-Master-Doctorate) curriculum, UCAB enables Arabic-speaking baccalaureate holders to gain a stronger command of French, English, mathematics, and the applied sciences.
Today, the university offers7 official programs of excellenceacross its various campuses (Dakar, Touba-Ndam, Bambey, and Saint-Louis):
- Religious Sciences
- History and Civilization
- Electromechanics
- Management Computing
- Agriculture and Livestock
- Islamic Finance
- Agri-food Technology
These programs lead to a Bachelor’s degree (Licence) co-signed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation. They are shaping what is now known as the generation of “Imam-Engineers“—competent, rigorous, and ethical professionals who are ready to contribute effectively in a corporate environment from day one.
An Audiovisual Synergy
To capture the scope of this academic vision and preserve the emotion of this historic day, an exceptional technical and creative synergy was forged between UCAB TV and Madyana Studio / mnv3D. Combining an institutional perspective with cinematic and aerial drone footage, wireless audio recording, and high-definition post-production, the operation spanned various field locations—including *daaras*, laboratories in Dakar, and plots of land in Bambey—as well as the deployment of a dedicated team at the Grand Théâtre National in Dakar. Each sequence highlights the quality of the education provided and the successful professional integration of the graduates.
